I see your point. My point is that when you sell a truck don't expect to get back what you put into it if you fix it up. Fixing up a truck takes a lot of time and money. After you invest that into it they become high priced and to the average person, they look at a old one need fixing as one they could do and save money that way. When they get into them they start so see what it will add up to complete it and sometimes use the excuse I like it old and rough looking to justifie the way it looks, or decide to sell it again to someone else that thinks or want to finish it. I know some of the things I did to mine were not stock. The price range of a completely stock one all fixed up did not reflect what it would have taken to make mine stock again. A original seat, bed and welding on the tails back onto the frame converting it to 6 volts again and a few other small things do not add up to 10-18,000.00 in more costs to do. Mine going for 9,500.00 as compaired to one not even painted, dented up and rusty, no completely rebuilt engine & drive train, old tires and brake system and many other things not new or complete but the asking price of 6,500 to 8,000 in my mind is out of line. Knowing what I spent on mine tells me some are in for a big suprise when they try to make theres nice. Biggest thing was the tails cut off and a good welder could have put them back on ground the welds to flat and you never could tell unless you knew they were cut befor. That could have been fixed for 150.00 or less. Allmost all PWs have some welding done to them and a lot of body work. I was lucky mind did not need any real body work and no welding or straitning at all. Anything else done to it could have been un bolted and returned to stock easy as to compaired to a fixer upper. Many of these trucks are not original with A-Frames welded on the front end, dashes cut up, rusted out doors and frames, bad seats & interior, bad seals, broken glass, bad engines, ect. I even had the original motor that was re/done like new in it with a new front end and not a speck of bondo on the complete nose just some on the top and a spot on the door, dings not rusted holes. So even if you make it all stock and nice you would be doing good to break even selling it when you are done that is my point I was making. You can make more off them parting them out and sell the parts to others to fix theres with. When I take a 500.00 8N Tractor and part it for about 4,000.00 that is making a nice profet, I know I have done it to many. Fix up the same tractor and it will sell for about 2,800.00+ but you will have to spend about 2,200.00+ more to get that out of a finished one. This is what I am tring to say. It is the pleasure of working on them not making money off them unless you part them. Buy and Part don't fix them if you want to profet from them. Mark H.
