I have two 2001's (one standard output/auto and one HO/6speed) and they both surge slightly at idle. When they start to be a little sluggish accelerating from idle, I've always found that it's time for a new fuel filter. Usually about every 10k-15k miles. I put a Bully Dog set up, and bigger exhaust, on the HO/6speed truck to increase the fueling rate and what a difference! Keeps up with the sports cars now!
