Learned something on the site. I have what is called a Inverted "L" Frame added to the regular Frame. This takes the RBM (resist bending moment)from around 480,000 to above 2,100,000 four times as strong for resisting movement to shock loads. Checked on moving the rear end but the frame is different right at the point the front part of the leaf spring mounts. So it would take different taller spring mounts or cutting the frame right at that point which is worst then shortning the frame. I am about to give up on changing the wheel base and just cut 4 ft off the rear and move the tank forward. It won't over load the front axle and still have about 980 lbs to spare on the front GVW rating. At least this would make it shorter. The other way is to cut the frame, weld the regular frame together and replace the inverted "L" frame and rebolt it to the exsisting holes about 12 per side and add a new 60" complete frame bolted over the splice with 30 inches passed it on each end of the weld. This would give me a 60 inch long 3/4 inch thick frame at that point. The frame they would use on a regular GMC Truck would be 1/4 in thick in this area if it did not have the option of the Inverted "L" Frame added for bigger loads on the longer wheel base trucks.
