Wanted! 383 or 440

Hey guys I need some help.
My step dad has got a real nice 80 Dodge 1/2 stepside that needs a new heart! He wore out the little 318 and I would like to replace it with a 383 or 440 and not tell him until he drives it! ;)
I'm not sure what I need so any advice is appreciated. I got a rebuilt 727 to back it up so just need a simple bolt in motor (I hope) I don't want to tie up alot of $$ so I'm willling to trade parts for FF or W series. Let me know what have you?
