I'll try to make this short. One reason that I didn't make too big a deal about the brakes is because a trailer with the right setup can make up for a truck with weak brakes. Our D400 had a Vacuum over hydraulic braking system and would actually stop faster at 30000# than it did empty! Your first gen is not the best towing rig either, but frankly, I would rather have mine than this truck. I think that it is all out a better truck (unless your goal is to be a sideshow). My truck has very similar components with a 2300# lower dry weight. I have quite a bit less in my truck than this truck, and if I wasn't such a stickler for great original trucks, I would have much less than I do in mine.

I guess that him being a cummins engineer is kinda like you telling me that I should give you credibility because you used to drive a Ford. (P.S. I am a development engineer for CAT)

"I guess to each his own but I'd trust it & I'd be willing to put a few bucks on the line if I owned it challenging new truck owners on the hills!" Like I said before, I have trouble getting into the mind set that it is more important to get there fast than to get there, period!

Have a great day,
Dan
