Jerry,
I've just been all through this with both my 93 Cummins & my similar project I'm working on, a W300 I plan to install a Cummins in.
You should really get in touch with Piers at PDR- www.piersdiesel.com
He regularly gets in low mileage Cummins engines & claims by far the best engine for any Cummins conversion is a 1996-1998 12v engine. He sells them for $3500-$4000 Canadian which is $2500-$2800US.
I had decided I wanted a new 2003 Cummins engine but he convinced me it's not the way to go for a project like this & has hundreds of reasons why.
He's a very hard man to reach but it's worth your effort. Good luck with your project & incidentally Piers is installing a 1997 Cummins 12v engine in a 1969 F350 Crewcab for himself.
