I have used these sleeves in several places on my '49 Power Wagon. I have them installed them on all four wheel bearing seal surfaces on the axle housing. I also have one installed on the output yoke of the transmission, as well as one on the engine crankshaft pulley, where the front main seal touches it.

So far, all of these have worked very well. I did not have much choice but to install these, or get the parts weld/braze repaired, or buy new (or NOS) parts, because the parts I had were pretty badly grooved and roughed up from wear. New seals probably would not have lasted very long on these parts.

It's not difficult to install these parts, but I remember I had to do some trimming to the ones that I installed on the axle housings, because the only sleeves I could get a hold of were longer than the seal surface was wide. So I took a Dremel tool and very, very carefully trimmed each sleeve after it was installed on the axle housing. I finished off the trimming with some fine grit sandpaper (400 or 600 grit) to smooth up all of the edges where I would have to slide the hub (with new seal) onto the sleeved seal surface. I didn't want to cut the new seal as I slid the hub onto the sleeved surface.

To make a long story short, I think Speedy or Redi Sleeves are good to use, if you have any question about the condition of your original seal surface.
