thanks for the tips here and by email for the broken axle end retrieval tips. It should not be a problem to get out as it is on the front axle passenger side. It broke between the outside splined end and the CV knuckle, inside the spindle. So all I have to do is get the knuckle housing off and the spindle and it should be no problem. I'm sure the spindle is wrecked as well.
