I'm not real sure of the year of the truck...I think it's a 1953.
My 2 week gin pole project turned into 4 months when I realized I needed to rebuild the bed. I took it all the way down, stripped it to bare metal and started over....what a chore, The old bed was so bad I had NOTHING to go by for placement of cross members, actual width of finished bed, etc. It turned out pretty nice and improved thr ride of the truck 10,000%...really
