I went for a ride in that B-24 about 10 years ago. I had a pump/accumulator assembly for the B-24 tail turret, and traded it to Collings Foundation, who operate the two bombers, for a ride. I went from Corvallis, OR to Redmond, OR as a waist gunner. Got great photos and video, but had not arranged for a return trip, so ended up hitch-hiking back home. Took me all night, walked 26 miles in all, mostly after dark when drivers wouldn't stop. It rained lightly, and was too cold to stop and sleep. I was tired out but very happy.
