rebuild it however you would like and put the old dennon overdrive that is what I have done and there are a few that have drove the 46 with 583 and a 230 that was rebuilt before I bought it but whoever did it did a good job. Anyway at 2400 rpm according to the 6 volt tack it is running around 54 -55 with the reduction in the OD you go from 583-457 and it is through a flip of a switch I have had it in over a year stuck it really bad after swimming it in mud done all kinds of driving including in this terrible Texas heat with a yard or more of 1" river stone and it doesnt matter it works the same as the day I did it and I believe that it is the anwser for those of us who like 583 and the torque of the 230 I bought an old truck cause I wanted a old truck if I wanted a v8 PW I will buy a w300 one of my other trucks is a 41 wc-12 in good shape a set of non directional everything else stock 449 except fot the engine which is a 251 this truck will cruise at 60 not much more and the 46 will stay with it so I hope this is a help if you have any questions feel free to call me at 817 401-9105 I know this sounds like a testimonal but ask Judd
