A coworker of mine once related to me his story of going into the local Strum Auto and trying to get a part for his truck. I don't remember what year, brand, or model it was, or what he needed, but it was something simple like a set of windshield wiper blades. He calmly answered all of the questions asked from the kid on the other side of the counter who was feverishly typing information into the computer. Questions like: what size engine does it have, does it have an automatic transmission, air, etc. My friend finally had enough and said to the counter person, "And the truck is painted red, too!" I admit to having borrowed his line a few times when I see fit. ;^)

I have been lucky. Our Napa stores have always employed people who have taken an interest in my old Power-Wagons and seem to enjoy a change of pace and a chance to look through their catalogs if I come in without a part number, (which is rare).

I practically emptied out the office one day at the local bearing retailer when I went in to the sales counter looking for a replacement for a no longer manufactured mechanical governor bearing. We have been on a first name basis ever since.

Clint
