An old timer told me that after having the engine under load for an extended period it is recommended that you keep the tractor running for about 10 min. at about 1/4 speed. This does two things. 1) The fan keeps turning continuing to cool down the engine from the loaded temperature. 2) It keeps the coolant moving preventing the temperature from the cylinders from immediately transfering to the stagnent coolant and throught the rest of the engine.

Lastly he told me he never parked hot tractors in the dry barn - fire hazard.
