I am not an expert, but what I am thinking about doing is to buy one of the "undercoating" type systems Eastwood sells with the long flexible wand, and after cleaning the crossmembers with degreaser and then "convertng" it with something like picklex -20, shooting Zero Rust paint into the crossmembers and the innards of the doors.
