Mysterious fuel gauge operation

I've had my B2PW on the road for less than a week and yesterday something really strange happened. I was driving the truck from the mainland where I live to the island my late uncle lived on. He was the original owner of the truck and last licensed it in 1973 but used it on his property until the late 70's. So when I was going across the bridge I thought how this is the first time in 3 decades that the truck had driven on the island and was on its way to the old stomping grounds. So I pulled into my uncles property to visit my folks who were there cleaning up the place to sell off what remains of his belongings, stayed for a few minutes and drove back out to the main road and then it happened......the fuel gauge was working! Now this fuel gauge has never worked since I've had the truck which is for about 4 years and have driven it around his and my place alot but never on the road until last Saturday. Very strange that it decided to work when the truck arrived back at it's original home, maybe my dearly departed uncle had something to do with it. So needless to say I'm happy, truck's happy, and hopefully my uncles happy.
