the update! I had a friend in New Bern, NC who had a 1965 (I think that is correct year) Chrysler 300 convertible. It had a huge motor (don't remember the size - OK it was 30 years ago) and it would really go. We used to "blow out the carbon" on US 70 going in to Havelock, NC.
