Brake Drum Removal

1947 Power Wagon - I have the 3 screws that retain the drum onto the hub removed; whats the best way to remove the drum? Do I have to worry about anything at the axle hub? It appears that there are 3 tapped holes for using a puller; anyone know the tap size and depth? Is it safe to use a puller with a center part pushing against the axles cover plates?
