It's not an "official style" so I don't beleive there are any style rules or guidelines for Maple Wheat Beer. It is essentially a wheat beer of your choice that has been brewed with maple syrup. Depending on how much you use, the syrup can can give anywhere from a hint of maple to a full on sweet sensation.
I brewed a Krystal Weizen (German wheat beer that is clear) and added 1lb of your syrup.
The beer is quite tasty with just a slight sweetness and the maple is not over powering. But the yeast I usd gives it a bannana/clove taste/smell that is common to Heffeweizen. Still good, just not my particular favorite.
It came in at ~8.3% Alcohol by volume so it's not much of a summer, quench your thirst, drink 6 in a row beer. I like to sip one at night after the kids have gone to bed while reading.
Next time I'll use a more neutral yeast and lower the %alc so I can enjoy more!
If you want the recipe I used, shoot me an e-mail. Or you can search teh web for maple what beer and probably find a few.
