This is a completely unsolicited post.

This is a picture of my first Power-Wagon. It did not have the cab or doors on it when I bought it many moons ago for more cash than I should have paid. Looks short dosent it?
I get e-mails all the time from people who are just getting thier first power wagon asking for advice on where to begin, where to get parts, how to do this, and that, etc...
I'm very humbled and appreciative of the fact that people think that I'm knoweledgeable enough to ask me such questions.
Trust me, I dont consider myself an expert, but I do know what I dont know, and I look for reference to find out.
The best advice I can give anyone starting out is to get 3 things...
1) call Vintage Power Wagons and get thier Catalouge. The latest edition is more of a illustrated parts breakdown, than a parts list. Great pictures, exactly what a knuckledraggin' gear head like myself needs. It is truly a must have!
2) Get "Dodge Service" 3rd printing from Gordon Maney, editor of the Power Wagon Advertiser. If they are still available, there are a series of PWA issues (April '97?) that deal with 230ci engine rebuilding and service. Armed with these publications in your technical library, you will be able to undertake a sensible refurbishment of the mechanical aspects of your WDX-WM300 Power Wagon.
3) Last but not least... Get the "Dodge Power Train Survival Manual" By Greg Coffin of Loveland, CO. This gem has NAPA, Carquest, and National Part Numbers for just about all of your consumeable items, bearings, gasketts and seals (real men do not use RTV!). This pub will save you a ton of money and time from getting the wrong parts at the local parts house.

My copies of the Dodge Service, and survival manual are covered with grease and tattered, If I had been smart, I would have pulled apart the pages, had each one laminated, and stuck them in a 3 ring binder. That way you can write notes on the laminate and it's pretty resistant to 90wt gear lube!
