I haven't done it yet but does look possible with some engineering/fabing. I have two 2nd series beds with terrible rear stake pockets but both have excellent fronts I'm still cleaning up the best of the 2 beds(someone welded in a diamond plate floor). I have all the stake pockets off and haven't got to fabing a set of fronts onto the back as of yet. Working on 4 vehicles at once hasn't allowed me any experimentation time lately.
I think if you goto Dennis Shermans homepage from Power Wagon Plus there is a little explanation on how he managed to do a set as you describe on a Power Wagon Hope this helps.
