I admit to taking my muffler off of my '99 2500 (24valve) but I left the resonator. Nobody noticed the difference. I gained almost 2 mpg. I also added a Banks computer and bigger injectors. Now I get 19 to 20 mpg and make 300 dyno'd horsepower. I used to get 14 with the stock 235hp. I completely straight piped my sons truck and then put on dual 4" stacks. My sons truck is a 91 W350 with a 12 valve 160hp engine and it makes a good amount of noise. I am kind of used to the noise from running equipment all day so I don't really notice. It is not any louder than my neighbors TransAm or a big engine with a Jake Brake. BTW my wife hates it!
