Another handy tool to make as home is digging
bars/anchor/pry bar made out of 2" thickwall pipe and
a big truck leaf spring. Cut the spring to about
12". Make a slight V-cut about 6" into
the end of the pipe to insert the spring about 6"
lengthwise. Hammer the pipe v-cut shut on the
spring (which tapers the pipe down to the spring) and
weld all the way up where it contacts the
spring leaf. Unlike those bars at the hardware store
these pipes don't bend when you pry/dig with them.
You can also slide another piece of pipe inside to
lengthen and strengthen the bar. Put an axle in
and drive 'em into the ground for disposable anchors,
taking the shaft with you when you leave. PW springs
are too thin for this stuff. You need the heavy truck
springs.
