Just a thought...(from the "I'm smarter'n you file")
We are told to wear gloves to protect our hands
from burrs on cables. BULLSHIT!!! In 1991 while rewinding the
cable on a winch and wearing gloves, my glove was
caught by the eye splice on the end of the cable.
Even though I had an ignition KILL switch on the
front of the truck just above the winch, by time
I hit the switch and the engine wound down, my
hand was rolled up in the winch. I lost the tip
of my left thumb, split my "next to social finger"
lengthwise, crushing the bone and crushed my
little finger. In order to free my had I had to
tear off the end off my thumb. YOU wear gloves!!
I don't( and I've winched/towed for a living). Give me a burr cut over that anyday. A
distributor ground/kill switch is a MUST with a
PTO winch. A deadman switch is an even better
idea. Had I not had a kill switch I probably
would have lost my hand or arm. Please install
one on your PTO winch equipped trucks.
