I don't know if you're aware but towing with a
5th wheel is much different than towing with a
bumper hitch because of the weight distribution
factor on both the towing and towed vehicles.
When was the last time you saw a semi-trailer
with the wheels in the middle? Under ideal
circumstances, his Ford might do it if the
mechanicals of the vehicle drivetrain didn't
fail him but when was the last time you rented
a trailer where everything worked as it should?
Would you bet your life on the quality of a
rental trailer? If there is a separate brake
system for the trailer which will stop the
whole rig with a load on, like on a semi or
properly engineered 5th wheels,then he's okay.
If not, YEEEEEEE-HAAAAAAWWW!!! That itty-bitty
expedition/explorer ain't gonna stop that
parade. Been there! Done that! Got the skidmarks
in my shorts to prove it. I knew a guy who
trashed a 48 carryall and a full-size Blazer and
trailer by subscribing to your theory.
