Alan,
Not really, but the thing I probably glossed over is how aging affects multiweight oils. The polymers start to form long plastic chains, (polymerization) and they cause the oil to get thick & stringy and less lubricating. This is the self-same reaction that makes epoxy harden, but much slower. High temperature operation aggravates it, as well as dirt that gets suspended. When this happens, you'll start to see plastic like deposits forming on everything. This is one of the most common causes of stuck piston rings. As I said, I would use it only if I were able to change it out occasionally. Try once a year and see how the oil looks, then go from there. Single weight gear lube is not that hard to find, and it removes the problem. The only thing I can see as a downside is that in a modern gearbox, where manufaturing tolerances and gear finishes are sometimes not too great, given the price controls necessary in the auto industry today, a multi weight probably runs a bit quieter when cold. That shouldn't be an issue in a truck. As in all automotive endeavors, the key is regular maintenance. Good luck!
Jack
