Just got thru putting a manifold on a 59 318 last sunday . I'm sure you have the right gasket set , they just don't look right at the rear . put a bead of silicone on and let it get tacky ,place the foam on let it sit a spell ( about one tall boy length ) then put silicone in the corners . When you set the manifold down be sure you go straight down and do not not move it to the front or rear. I built this 318 in 74 and did not forsee the demise of leaded gas . The 318 just past 10k and required a valve adjustment every 2-3000 miles . Put in 8ex seats &16 guides along with 8 stelite valves (on hand). Left for Kileen WED. and after that 450 m. trip it had dripped a drop . Good luck on yours. PS the 59 SWB D100 got 19.19 mpg.
