The conventional W200 is a solid heavy duty truck
that should with proper maintance be a workhorse.
The 383 big block wedge is a fine reliable power
plant of simple design. It has a external oil pump
simple water pump housing with replaceble pump
unit. The engine itself is much simpler to rebuild
than a small block generic motors engine. Tell Im
a mopar man all the way. The 383 has been around
since the early sixties. I own a 67 W200 w/383 in
addition to 2 flat fenders one runner one I hope
to have going soon. My daily driver is a
84 ramcharger and the 67 W200. Ive had a 79 360ci
and 78 big block Power Wagon. Ive had many good
reliable years from Mopar 4x4's and would drive no
other. Good Luck should you aquire the truck you
have mentioned as to the abuse issue I have no
input other than I know most government vehicles
were regular serviced and maintained. Happy Trails
Roger
