The question is not stupid. Stupid was me at my first Iowa rally in '96 with a "bought and brought" '47 WDX that I had only driven ten miles. I drove M-37's in the Army, but had never driven a 100% non-synchro before. I could not shift it. It took me until Friday afternoon to figure it out. The guys are right. You have to double clutch going up and down through the gears. And if you start in first, forget it. That is a "granny" work gear. You go there and stay until that work is done. When you are off-road, get into low range early. Third gear, low range is close to second gear, high range. Check Zentmeyer's (sp?) driveline book. It is easier to shift the transmission between third and fourth, than second to third. And if you need more speed than fourth gear, low range, you are not really off road anad could get by with a Chevvy.
