You don't mention comparisons of strength of welds. I have been doing gas welding for
years. I have never owned an arc welder. I can get a reasonable looking bead with apparent
penetration but I still don't
trust welds on heavy metal as much as I would an electric weld. I also think that the
excessive heating over a large area which occurs in gas welding causes crystalization.
Any thoughts on this? I am not an expert, just a do-it-yourselfer and I am entirely self-taught.
