I've used Dot 5 for 16 years in Classic cars, Trucks. Some with every day use, without any problems. Silicone fliud tend to aireate faster than others. Bleed slow and don't pump pedal fast when bleeding. It's purple when new but turns clear or slightly amber with age. It almost has no smell, Dot 3 has a smell. How I tell what's in a system, Dip finger in Master, smear on piece of metal, wipe off good, then try to paint over it with a can of spray paint. If it fish eye's like crazy it's Silicone. As an added benefit of using Dot 5 in your truck, if you spill it or seeps onto something, it won't hurt your paint finish. Do not use it in Anti Lock brake systems.
