The beast has no engine but from my searching around the web I now believe the body is off a 1/2 ton truck just like you say. The hood, cab, grille, box look just like the pictures I have seen for other 1/2 ton trucks. Oddly enough it has 20 inch wheels but I think that is a modification someone else made. I'll have to check the other ID plates to see what the numbers are. Found a whole listing of body tag codes and serial numbers that I can reference. It's looking like someone simply used the tags from another truck to get a title on it. I am now almost certain it IS a 1/2 ton truck but not sure of the exact year
