Steve's earlier response was almost correct. Everything he said was OK except rotate the tire TWO complete revolutions and count the revolutions of the drive shaft.
The reason for two revolutions is that you must make up for the differential action of the rear end.
That's why when you are stuck (never in a PW of course) the spinning tire seems to turn faster than you would expect it to.
