You'll find them in Municipal trucks all around the country, in trash trucks, county dump trucks, fire engines, etc. They take a lot of abuse in the 'fleet of the great unwashed' and still perform pretty well. I would expect that someday Damiler will force Dodge to use the big Merc autos in the Ram, even the 48RE is a rehashed 47RE, not the completely redesigned trans that it was marketed as. That means it is STILL the 1954 727 auto, refined and reworked. How many anythings from 1954 still hold up to the state of the art? (Power Wagons and their drivers born that year excluded)
I think the whole point which has been overshadowed by the politicaly correct apologist posts for Matt above and the other wimpy wishy washy posts defending ferd and gm, is this,... don't come to a Dodge Web Site and talk trash without expecting to get a counter point.
