Sounds like you got a real lemon. I have heard nothing but great stories about these trucks since I bought mine new in 1991. I am amazed, in fact, that you have suffered so much.

I have done the brakes a couple of times, the exhaust once (as described here today) and the u-joints, tie-rod ends, and steering coupler maybe three times each. That's it.

The old truck still will outpull any of the other boys' Ferds or Shabbies. Fuel-Mileage of up to 26 on the highway, doing 75 MPH. (Standard tranny)

Is the 1993 the first year of the "new" version? Mine is the older style; maybe that's the difference in the quality and/or engineering.
