I love that 93 Dodge of mine, but in 4 months I've spent $10,000 Canadian on it!
Engine had absolutely no Power so I had Injectors done, smaller turbo housing & added gauges to monitor the temperatures & try to make the transmission live. Had work done on the injection pump....that cost $3000 & solved the power problem.
Transmission blew up 2 weeks later. Proper transmission rebuild-$3500US-($4900 Canadian)+ tax + $700 installation. That brings the total over $9000. Replace sagging front springs due to the weight of the Cummins engine & replace shocks-$900..that brings it over $9900...what's next? I'm told if the injection pump goes to expect another $1500 in bills. It costs more to own an old truck than to buy a new one!
I would love to have kept it all stock but there's no way that truck could have towed a Power Wagon behind it with 160hp at the flywheel. That's like 120hp at the rear wheels! I'm sure it would pull a trailer so long as you're happy going up hills at 35mph...no thanks. I'm afraid if I'm going to be driving a Dodge, there ain't going to be any Ford's passing me!
I hooked the trailer up once & had older Ford's passing me so fast I thought I'd put the transmission in reverse by accident! I sure hope the transmission is the end to my problems because the shop doing the work is known to be the among the best in North America. If they can't make this thing keep up to my 1995 Ford, nobody can!
I'll keep you posted.
