I think it is through such regrettable, shocking experiences that we come to value life more. It is a sad and thought provoking thing to lose someone close to us. And, it helps us to recognize our own mortality. We are all very vulnerable; that does nothing but become more apparent.
Do not let an opportunity pass by to let someone know what you would want them to know if you were never to see them again. If you need to, preface your remarks to them with this idea.
I am being very earnest about this. We cannot know which of us might not be able to make the next meeting....
