Ed, I went to the three major automotive paint suppliers in my area armed with the Ditzler code number. All said it was too old to cross reference and that it would not matter anyway because of how paint bases have changed so much over the past 50 years. I have heard that others have had better luck than I. The owner of the APE (Automotive Paint & Supply) business did tell me that the color of the primer would make a difference in the color of the final coat when I told him that both of my Dodge Truck Dark Green trucks had black primer. (He is an old paint guy who has been custom mixing for 40 years.) This pretty much sums up what the experts have told me, but I have not proven any of it yet as I have still not painted a truck.
