Never heard of setting timing with a vacuum gauge. Only adjusting the carb. Very interesting.
Doesnt that open pipe go to the PCV valve via a rubber hose?
The fuel could boil out of the carb after a hot shut down and make it hard to start becuase the fuel did evaporate.
