Some believe there is no limit to the value of a PW and any price is fair if your happy.
I believe that the initial value as a vehicle alone, should first be determined. Then factors such as planned use should be considered along with completeness and condition.
Many bought their trucks back when they were judged as a older vehicle alone and got them for prices based on that factor (relatively cheap)compared to the overinflated prices once they became a fad and the subject of restorers and collectors. It has been a doubled edged sword no matter how you look at it.
Prices have seemed to level off for the time being except for the best condition ones
and we may in time see their prices come down. Once you could get a complete running truck for what their asking for a beater hauled in from sitting 20yrs in a pasture, half rusted away and missing many parts that were once considered just parts trucks to be had for the price of scrape or a little higher.
My first beater 64 WM300,running only cost me $500.Then a few years later I found a straight, running 64 WM300 w/extra 63 WM300 drivetrain and chassis for only $1000. I bought a M-43 w/the back of the body cut down to a flatbed for $200 so, I roughly have 1 good WM300 with all the spare parts I'll need and a working M-43 for $1700. By todays pricing, I could ask $3500+ for the straight 64WM300 alone and most likely get it.
Make up your mind what you think its worth, offer less and let him dicker you for a little more but keep your limit firm. It won't be the last truck to become avaiable, be patient as good deals are out there.
