I tried that on another engine with the same problem, but that one had ground right through the bearing in into the crank .010 or so and I couldn't get it smooth with emery cloth. That didn't happen in this engine, so will try your suggestion. I doubt that crocus cloth alone will take off the stuck-on bearing metal, so what grade of emery cloth would you suggest is about the coarsest I could use and still leave a decent finish on the journal?
