I don't think they are weatherproof; they have suction cups for attaching to the inside the car window.
Output is probably in the 100 - 200 mA range at best. Don't know if they have a back flow diode either, but it seems likely.
I'd check at the local VW dealer. I hear the going price is $10. The eBAZE dudes want $10 + $10 S&H.
Alas, no VW dealers in Carlsbad ...
