As far as opinions go, I am afraid I have to share Fred's. I have been driving on NDTs for 23 years. I have found that, for my use, they are the worst tread pattern I have ever found for the kind of winters we have here in the midwest. Mud Countrys, Mickey Thompsons, Ground Hawgs, Courser Tractions, Wide Tracks, Wrangler RTs, have all performed better for me in the snow even though none of these were know for being particularly good snow tires. NDTs just have too much rubber in the center for some types surfaces. Not that I will ever run anything other than NDTs on a Power-Wagon, I think they look the best by far.

As far as Engineers go. They can design, test, and evaluate all they want, but they can never learn all there is to know about something solely by the information gathered in a test facility. Seat of the pants learning carrys a lot of weight in the real world. I can not say anything bad about engineers. Some of my best friends are engineers and I work with engineers all night, but I admit that I find some delight in proving that some of their figures and theories do not quite work they way they expect when put to the test in the real world.

Not trying to stir up trouble, just sharing my opinions.
