I have a Kodak 3900 also, it is terriffic! Unless you are converting to 14"x 17" Studio Portraits, 2.1 pixels is plenty of clarity, the Kodak 3900 has 3.1, most newer cameras have 3.5 and up and plenty of bells and whistles. I think They are overkill, go simple and put the money into your truck! Many of the 1200 photos at my ImageEvent site were taken with the Kodak. Like mentioned below, it came with a docking station that both charges the camera and transfers (uploads) the card at a touch of a button. Transfering 167 photos takes about 10-15 minuts depending upon the resolution that you use.
