I have a Sony digital video camera with a memory stick and I love it. If I were to shoot a still picture at the highest resolution, it would be too large to post or send to anyone without filling up their mailbox.
Shooting at low res, I can take about 1000 pictures before I need to download. Its easy to use and I wouldn't use anything else. As far as sharing with friends, I don't need to hand them my pictures on a disk, I just email them. You can always download to CD and mail it to them if you have a huge amount.
Go talk to a camera nerd at Best Buy and see what they have to say. I think the floppy drive is old tech which will probably disappear in the next year for good reason.
