Loud Clunking Noise ???

Hi,
I have a 1962 W300. When I shift into 4th gear a loud clunking noise starts. And it only happens in 4th gear. I just put in a different trans. It makes the same noise with both of them. I can not seem to track it down. Do you think it is the transfer case? The drive shaft slip yokes are a bit worn. Thanks for any help.
