The weight listed is very close as each truck ,depending on modification or add-ons, will always vary within a couple hundred lbs.
I have found that using a hitching attachment that is slightly higher than your oponents,causes his vehicle to pull down on yours like adding traction weight while causing his to want to lift and lose traction as he pulls. I've always tried to cause them to break traction which usually causes them to gas it and start spinning giving you the pulling edge. I would experiment with low range and 2nd gear.
