I have never been a big fan of powder coating. Over the years I have ordered roll cages, tube bumpers, grill guards, etc. for various 4-wheelers. They all arrived by common carrier all scratched and chipped up. My experiences with power coating have shown that it is just not durable enough for wheel rings (at least for my taste). I painted mine, after the tires were mounted, with a high temp aluminum colored paint. Looked good for about a year. If I can find someone local to do it, next time I will go with flame spraying aluminum or stainless steel on the rings. I have also heard of this process referred to as "Aluminizing" or "Spray Welding". Several shops in my area had the equipment at one time but stopped doing the process because of lack of customers. We even had a local shop up until a few years ago that still did Cadmium plating. I think one would be hard pressed to find someone to do this now.
