The more time you spend on the chassis cleaning the crud, the quicker the blasting will be. The crud acts like a shock asborber to the blast media. It takes a lot more media and time. I use a puddy knife, assorted long screw drivers and a air operated impact needle gun to clean the crud, then media blast with Black Beauty. Its not a fun job, but the rewards are large
