I usually do not go on the freeways for obvious reasons but over the last few years, I have taken the townie on several long (over 50 miles trips).
Every time I am going high speed (53 mph) for over 40 miles or so, I start hearing a strange noise in the drivetrain. The moment I ease up on the throttle, it sounds like something is very loose in the drive train. Even after I exit from the freeway, the rattle will be quite loud when the drive train is not under load. Kind of sounds like the universals.
The rattle goes away after the truck has set idle for several hours. I have checked the universals by hand and do not feel any play. Something is definatly loose down there, but it only rattles when it has been at high speed for some time. Any ideas?
