Ken; I got 900 miles on my front bearings and they are running cool with no play finger snug till it just stops on the first nut. If you make the bearings tight they can over heat if they are loose they will get hot or wear fast with steering and shimmy problems with the tires. I guess you can say it is in the feel when you set them. Just tight enough to remove the play when the wheel is not hung off the hub. I do not even like having the drum on to do it. Less weight better feel for play because you are not pulling the weight in place on the hub/bearing with the nut. Mark H.
